The Stage development
The latest project the council is pleased to be able to bring to the market in the town centre is ‘The Stage’. This project is a crucial element of our Town Centre Masterplan, not only will it create many new homes and community facilities once complete but will also create opportunities for the local economy and local businesses throughout its delivery.
This exciting £100m, mixed-use development is benefiting from £20m of funding from the government Levelling Up Fund (LUF). Enabling works are programmed to commence in summer 2024 with main construction following on later that year and completing in Q4 2026.
The development comprises
- 292 apartments in two blocks
- Six story stand-alone stage building. Top four floors are grade A offices whilst the bottom two contain a new music focused venue (600 standing) for the town centre with food court and studio rooms for hire.
- A 280 space bicycle hub for the town centre
- A new public square opposite to railway station next to the Starbucks.
The Stage location
Situated next door to the Power Court site where Premiership Football Club Luton Town will build its brand new stadium and residential development is the Bute Street Shoppers Car Park.
This 1.4 hectare site is highly accessible being located next to the railway station, central bus station and taxi rank. Situated on the edge of the HAT district and opposite the Hat Factory Arts Centre with the shopping mall is only two hundred metres away.
